Do you find mix automation to be important for a stand alone recorder? I have a Tascam 788 and it doesn’t have automation. When I’m mixing down, I have to press stop all the time so I can load the new scene (It won’t allow loading of new scenes while playing).

I’m planning to upgrade to another unit, does the Korg D1200mkII have mix automation?

Also I’m concerned about the panning of these two units. When I bounce the rhythm section into a stereo track on my 788, I have two pan controls for a stereo track and I find it useful because, when I bounce the rhythm section, I don’t pan it but when I bounce a 4 track horn section into a stereo track, it sounds better panned hard left and right. The korg only has one pan control for a stereo track so is that a bad thing? thanks

I own a Korg D1200MK11 and to me it is awesome. Most recorders will have a feature the other recorder don't have. I have owned several stand alone recorders but the Korg in my opinion is fantastic. If you go to their site you'll get great advise on the machine and you'll rarely ever read of a breakdown. Plus the 24bit recording is a huge plus. To each his own, but my choice is Korg!!

Jus to jump in here check out da Roland VS series track recorders. Not sayin purchase one but look into them. They are great track recorders and neva have let me down. But i did do some research on the Korg once and it does have some great features u should def look into. good luck wit yo decision makin.

Thanks for your replies guys. I'll look into the Roland recorders too.
