Korg 3200 Studio Setup.

Hello,

I have about a year that i bought the Korg 3200 DAW, and havent' used it much because i don't have a dedicated place ( so i won't have to take it in and out from the closet).
Anyway, what i wanna know is what other equipment would be help ful to make my recordings better. I only have the Korg 3200, a pair of KRK monitors, and a SM 57.
I will record, electric guitar, acousitc guitar, keyboard, accordion, drums, bass, saxophone.
What mics, and external equipment should i use to meke better quality recordings.

Can compressors and/or external efects be connected to the Korg D3200?

Hi ...

You can always connect external effects to standalone units, the question is whether the possibilities offered are the most effective way... but that's a long thread in itself.

If I were you I'd start out with a decent SDC and LDC which will help you record, specifically, acoustic guitar, but will also be useful in any number of other situations, including vocals, although you don't list them...

By drums, do you mean full kit, real drums? Or percussion like djembes / bongos and the like, or software or e-drums? And if we're talking full kit real drums, do you have a decent space to record them in?

I wouldn't get much more at this stage, just a couple of mics and start recording. Last thing you want is too much gear you're not familiar with creating crappy recordings for reasons you can't tie down.

Start simple. master what you have, then seek specific advice on how to improve things and you'll get further recommendations as to outboard gear etc.

FWIW I use a standalone and use external preamps and a channel strip via inserts, but do most compressing and effecting in the box itself...

Compressors and preamps can be added but in all honesty, the Korg D3200 preamps don't need any help at all and you can add compression on board anyway.
You do need good microphones but no other outboard equipment.
Start looking at condenser microphones in all of the usual places. I don't know your budget so I can't really suggest anything.
Probably the only piece of equipment, other than mics, that I would suggest is the recently invented 2seemy which will enable you to hook the rig up to a large screen.
It will transform your Korg into a much more user friendly studio.
