That's more of the modern crowd, they only saw 4-tracks on portastudios and 1/4" decks...which is understandable, since those were the original "home rec" recorders before DAWs.

I regularly run my drum mix into my old Tascam and then resample back into Maschine when I want to really lowjack the vibe of my track... Puts a kinda grit on your drums that can't be obtained (at least as easy) using plugs.
