I can't say that' I've compared, but I decided on an Audix D6 and I'm very pleased with my choice.
I have a couple of songs up on my site that I used the D6 on for kick.
The songs are called, "hopeless", and "this ghost".
You can hear them here:

Ive used(own) ATM25s, D112s,M88s,421s and RE20s on my kick. For under $200 though, the ATM25 sounded pretty damn good. I preferred it over the D112. Its not a bad tom mic either.

I love the b52. One in the hole, and one on the beater side, out of phase, sounds fan-f'n-tastic. I've been debating using this configuration live, where I usually just use one in the hole, and EQ up the high end to compensate for the lack of "whack".

I have bought and sold beta 52s / AKG D112 and the Audix D6 a few times..... i would have to admit the Beta 52 is the best out there for LIVE ONLY, the Beta 52 just doesnt have some of the freq a D112 has for studio, ive tried the D6 as well, D6 was ok it had some of the D112 sound and the Beta 52 as well but not enough, if you are recording the AKG D112 is the best out there......all of the mics sound great but the question is.......... what the kick sounds like in the mix is what you are looking for, some people forget about that issue. I have found that the beta 52 alot of times is in the same range as the bass guitar while the D112 puts more low mids in and cuts thru the mix. Always remember things most of the times cannot be fixed in the mix, tracking is so important, sorry for such a long reply but the D112 is my winner. EVERYTIME. If you will research studios all around the world you will find that most all use the D112. ;)
