Good solid modular console with discrete mic' amps.(4x transistor front end) that give loads of dynamic headroom.
Classic "British EQ" : warm as toast (Hi and lo shelf with two swept mids) .
4 Aux sends,

Things are coming along I guess. This purchase slowed things down construction wise though. But, I had to get it while the gettin was good How are you fixed for building a desk? That will be the next task as I need somewhere to put the new beast. I'm thinking on doin the whole integrated desk/patchbay/monitor stands/equip rack. I will be rather large and probably a permanent piece of the building when it's done.
I can let you know when and you can come down and have a beer and build some funiture. Won't be till after the holidays though.

Chances are, however, that I might be moving to DC during the first week of January. I am so excited: if everything works out, I'll get a permanent position in DC (which is not easy for a German guy living in the US) and can finally buy a house and build a recording studio! Hey what the hell man, I'll come out. I can solder as well. Pretty good too I might add. I used to work on Nav/flight control equip in the Army. They were pretty picky when it came to shit like that. I guess they didn't want cold solder joints in their Hueys' power steering system.

I was trained to solder for space applications when I was a student -- so Frederic & Hang, if you wanna launch your gear into space, I am ready! A recording session in the bay of the Space Shuttle would be something new ... dunno how to mic someone with a big helmet & space suit, though ... hmmm

Giga - cool on the move... DC is a good area to work, especially if you're in government or a government-sponsored employer. I'm down there every other month for work (Reston, VA actually).

As far as boards go... I have an old Fostex 450-16 thats been collecting dust for about 10 years now
Hawg - cool, c'mon over! I have fourteen 144TT ADC patch bays to solder in Going to solder on the bays, and put punchdowns on the back wall near the gear, and adjust wiring that way, since I don't intend to change gear that much.
I have one more piece of gear to buy for the producer's desk, and thats it. The Motu's I need to reacquire will be in the front of the room, under the console table.
The steel for the table arrives today hopefully!!!

it is the "recall". new it was $140,000. my price, well............ i am going to leave you all beggin. actually, i posted it in another thread. i ended up giving $12,000 for it. the going rate for these used is between $20,000 and $35,000. so i made out pretty good.

The only thing that people dont like about it is no.. onboard automation..
I just trigger different scenes from Sonar, so I dont need onboard auto.
Its all optical to and fro the computer so... thats a bonus too.
Everyday I like it more and more.

Its actually an O1v96
It is more similar to say the dm series rather the older 01v.
The ability to have total control from your daw or vis versa make it really nice to work with.
And you can store scenes on the mixer that will recall all effects/settings throughout the mixer with a simple midi trigger from sonar.
The effects are better than plug in software effects.
Im using an RME HDSP9652 card that works really well. I have 24 channels of lightpipe for mixdown from computer. Im also using the rme as a master wordclock against the mixer and my keyboard... seems stable.
I also run my triton keyboard via lightpipe into the mixer now. I can tell a big difference from a 18' instrumant cable run from the keyboard to the adat optical... highs are higher lows are lower... much better range.
The mixer was a bit overwhelming at first .. but everyday I keep fingering through the very good manual and push some buttons and its coming together.
That would be great if you got a digital mixer also... we could share ideas!
