Knightfly,

You just had to go and ruin an aesthetically pleasing alternative to speaker mounting, now didn't you? And I just flopped mine down on their sides a couple weeks ago to see if I could get the tweets more in line with my ears.

Back to uprights, I suppose.....

Darryl.....

LABTYD - you could just mix with your head horizontal - 'course, then you'd hafta put your speakers not only on their sides but one ABOVE the other, for stereo - an' then, you'd need the speaker triangle centered between ceiling and floor, and same treatment on ceiling and floor, and splayed floor/ceiling, and neck brace for when your head wants to fall off from laying over on its side, and.....

Hey, screw all that - FR's got an Amek :=)

Nice board.

Don't mind Knightfly. Next week he'll say he read an article where they recomended turning the near fields around and floating them in buckets of water ;)

ok, that was lame...... sorry guys...

20 more minutes and i am heading home to be with my baby!!!

Very slick forever. I'll bet it was well taken care of too since it was in such a nice home.
Concerning your tweeters firing above your ears if you flip the monitors to vertical; Can you remove the console from it's road case which would likely lower it 2-4 inches? That ought to put the tweeters about right for you then.
I'm taking it that you haven't fired that baby up yet to see what it sounds like in your room right? Didn't you used to have a Mackie in there?
Good luck and have fun with your new acquisition!!!

Mike

i have not done any tracking on it yet. i will get to give it a run through tonight though. i have not been able to fire any of the stuff i have already tracked on my HD24 through it yet cause i needed to buy some trs to xlr snakes. this thing has trs direct outs, but the tape returns are only xlr. kinda weird, but that is the way it is. i just got cables today over my lunch break. yeah, i used to use a mackie. i will probably keep it as a backup/live gig board. i will use it with my (3) adats to record live concerts. i do fear that i will not like using it after using the amek though. removing this thing from the road case is easier said than done. this thing is a haas. it took 6 guys to load it in. lets see, 6 guys X 6 beers each..... hhhmm i may have to wait a little while on that one... :)

Ft. Wayne is what, about 45 minutes from Louisville? I may have to give you a call next time I'm up there visiting my Mom and see if I can visit.

well, it is a long story, but i landed this amek console in my studio. this puppy was in carnegie hall till 2000. this thing rocks. it took 6 guys to load the sucker in. it is a bit heavy. anyway, thought i would post cause i am shaking with excitment and thought you all would like to drool for a bit... :)

Damnit man... now I have a puddle of drool on my nice shiny powerbook.

Anyway, that is one sweet console. Very pretty indeed. I'm looking to get a new Soundcraft Ghost 24, and well, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to drop the bomb on my partner... she isn't too fond of my wanting to spend thousands of dollars on gear... but eventually she comes around... cause she loves to record as well.

"floating them in buckets of water " -

Close, Tex - it has tobe SALT water, and partially dried up - but you did get the "backward" part right - I call this the "Reverse Liquid Crystal Scatter Effect" - Only downside is I've yet to find waterproof silk domes for tweets - polypropylene works fine for the woofs, though... Steve

Oh, forgot to mention that these obviate the need for Lava lamps - the bass reflex ports bubble thru the salt water, makes for a soothing "blurble-blurble" effect...

Don't have to. Just apply 6vdc directly to the salt water for an electrolysis treatment. The navy does it on ship hulls. OOPS, gave away my old secret. Steves right about the blurbls though. Ha! One other thing, you have to wear a face mask when monitoring
from a suspended body support above the buckets...... OR......
completely do away with the buckets and .....

..........use my newest secret amp .....a negative current driver......

THE NEWMAN MACHINE!!! it'll lower your electric bills too!! But might raise your blood pressure.
