I have been wanting to get into analog recording for some time and finally found the right gear. There was a listing on craigslist for a unit that needs work(play pressed capstan doesn't spin). The seller also had one with low hours and in excellent working condition and looks new. I left with both for $800. I've been lurking here for a while just to learn about what I was buying. Thanks to anyone who helped me answer a few questions.

I'm waiting on my tape to arrive and will start on my analog journey. I've just been checking out the eq and running things through the mixer. So far so pleased!

That's a fair price I believe based on your description, and it gives you a good system with a parts donor if needed.

Put up some pics when you can.

Fun!

Thanks for you help Sweetbeats! I'll get some pics up soon.

That's a good deal!

Make sure you stick to using new tape on it. www.splicit.com sells RMGI LPR35 on a 7" plastic reel for a good price.

Other tapes you can use are Quantegy 407 and 457.
