Actually, the thing I liked about the position I mentioned 2 post ago was that the high-end didn’t sound hyped. I primarily “flatpick” (that’s using a flat pick to pluck the strings) a couple of very expensive steel-string guitars (more like $5000 instead of $25k, though) and need to have as accurate sound as possible. Flatpicking a steel string into a mic with a hyped high-end results in a very harsh and unpleasant tone. I guess my problem is, I refuse to think that I can’t find something for under $300 - $500 that’ll get me 80-90% there. One thing though, I've learned in the last day or two, and that is it’s going to take a SDC mic, not a LDC, at least in this price range, anyway.
