I own a pair of Tannoy Reveals and Alesis RA-100 power amp to drive them. I used them for the first time today and turned the level up to 3 on the power amp, and boom, the woofer on my right monitor blew. Did I have it up too loud? It didn't seem overly loud, but it's my first time with these. What is the max level I can get? HELP ME

What kind of impedence were they?

I have a RA 100 also and I always run at least 8 just to get punch I want out of a recording. The board is always trimmed back,
I hate distortion of any kind, but at that volume they shouldn't have gone that quick.

By the way you didn't plug and unplug or aything like that did you? Just a dumb question done it and blown things up myself.

I believe they are 4 ohm, just like the RA-100. I connected my CD player into the input jacks of the amp just to test everything. Has anyone ever delt with the people at Tannoy? They are not under warrinty so I am screwed becuase I need them.

Ouch!!!!

If you want to save the cabs try partsexpress.com they have raw shielded drivers for replacement just match up impedence and freq. response. You may even have a better setup they have some nice ones.

Oooops!!!
Are the monitors "brand" new. If so, they were probably defective and the dealer or manufacturer should be happy to replace them or give your money back.
Or, your amp is defective and surged a fry-bomb into the monitors.
I have a similar setup as yours. Alesis RA-100 and Tannoy PBM 6.5's. I've had it several years and am always mixing above 3, no problem.
Even at the higher settings I don't notice any distortion.
Check your cables and board settings too.
