Beautiful song! The vocal did not bother me one bit...

Excellent!

:D

p.s. I think it was Brian Wilson that said that out of depression (or misery in your case) sometimes the most beautiful songs are written. This one takes the cake. The simplicity of it gets its point across better than any amount of production would. You did a great job!

Hey Tom - I think the blues guy on the Simpsons said "it's not about making you feel better. It's about making other people feel worse" :D
Sorry to hear about Sonia's back. Hope it's not too bad.
I think he meant hiding technique - this is certainly the most spill my heart type of song I've ever done.

boydrj,
thanks for the compliments. Who would know depression better than Brian Wilson? He sure did some beautiful stuff.

And I didn't think you were trying to hide anything. I didn't hear it that way. I understood the comment, just not the reason. But maybe you were trying to bury something in the mix that I didn't notice.

Nope. Not trying to hide anything. Except the sound of my hard drive chugging away in the background anyway. (usually when I record acoustic it's somebody else playing and I put them in the other room. Dang those condensors sure pick up that computer noise).

I record vocals right next to my PC. It's not easy to muffle the sound of the fan at all. By the way, I'm on her PC right now...I was just about to download this tune for her to listen to when she comes down.

i really like that rythmic guitar line. it's hypnotic. i'll be honest, your vox need some pitch attention but i like the song.

This kinda gives me a vibe from being like from the Graduate or something. You know that whole Simon & Garfunkel type thing? Very nice tune, i like the blending of the high and lows in the vox. Uhm.. hold on a second while i make some tea and curl up with a blankie in a wicker chair by a rainy window wistfully gazing out thinking about Dana and when is she coming home and will the little tater tots be enough for the children and does the garden need weeding..

is that dog the one in your avatar?

Very nice song, very engaging and intimate. I say who cares about little pitch issues when you capture a mood the way you have here-I thought the vocals were very appropriate.

Recording sounded fine to me-acoustic sounded good-glad you didn't verb it out or anything like that.

Keep em coming.

erichenryus,
Glad you stopped in. This tune was definitely inspired by your "not alone". When I listened to that I knew I had a haunting love song in me too.

Khompewtur,
Oh no! Comparing me to Simon and Garfunkel! Thems is fightin' words! (Just kidding, I deserved it for this one). Yep, that's the pooch. A 5 year old pit bull/shepard/chow - my best friend.

Let's let this thread die. I'm done with this one and I'm getting back to noiser stuff. Thanks for all the comments.

Whoh, missed you stratomaster.
Thanks!
Just a touch of the "warm living room" reverb pre set on there.

You still owe me a cd ;) Mine is all mixed and should be mastered and printed within the next couple months. Let's swap! I'm still listening to your tunes regularly but would love to hear the album.

THERE WILL BE NO DYIEING HERE!! heh.

Well i mean it doesn't sound exactly like them, just genre wise i dunno.

But the point is i thought those guys are respected musically and the comparison was meant to be positive.

we all have a haunting love song in us. :)

Just noticed where you're from. Ever hear of Bell's Beer?

Good sounds and a nice song. Nice balance between the lead and backing vocals.

Overall I think the vocals should be stronger in the mix.
