"Jolene" demoing new vocal mic

sounds like kareokee to me. Mix is off balance with a clicky kick and it sounds like you're trying to inhale the mic.

It DOES sound like karaoke...agree. I'm singing over a backing track that I made like a year ago. I was about 8-10 in away from the mic.

Look, man. Here's what you wrote in the OP:

Any feedback is much appreciated.

That isn't strictly the truth, is it?

Seeing that you posted this in the MP3 Mixing Clinic, where people post MP3s for critique, it is understandable and right that Greg would criticize your performance. In that light, I would say that Greg didn't "misread" your post, but that you posted your thread in the wrong forum. That would have been an error in your communication, sir - not Greg's, and certainly not Rokket's. Greg didn't have to listen to your damn song - nobody did. So instead of getting a bruised ego over some hard truths, why don't you thank the reviewers for their time?

Perhaps you agree this topic is better covered in the "Recording Techniques" forum:

As for the mic, try an EV RE-20. Half your problems exhibited in this recording will simply dissapear.

My "damn song"? What's up with that? Kind of lame to get a nasty attitude over an honest mistake isn't it? But you try and have a nice day, O.K. I actually didn't realize this was a forum for finished mixes or mixes in progress. I agree with your suggestion and I apologize for the error. My ego is fine with the criticism of the tracking, though. That's exactly what I was looking for when I posted the clip. And the RE20 suggestion is appreciated as well. I thank all who offered helpful suggestions on how to improve the tracking, which I will attempt to put into practice.

My attitude isn't over an honest mistake, it's over your arguing with people who are trying to help you.

A very decent guy from the forum was kind enough to lend me a mic of his to try out because he felt it would solve my 'room' problem. He suggested I post a clip to the MP3 mixing clinic forum, and I did. That simple mistake was the cause of all the misunderstanding here. And I wasn't trying to have any arguments, just to correct some misconceptions as to what I was looking for when I posted the clip. In other words suggestions on how to improve tracking. I think I got some very good ones however, in spite of the confusion. Next time I post a clip I will use the Recording techniques forum. Again, sorry for the mix up.
