Joining 2 or more XLR Cables

1. Are there losses if you, for examle, had a XLR Cable wrapped nicely around a Microphone stand so hence connected that XLR Cable to a snake?

2. The connection of say two 50 foot snakes.

The fewer the connectors the better, in theory. That being said, don't worry about it at all. Hook together however many you want. Don't worry about the length either, you won't notice anything for at least a couple hundred feet or so, even if you use just good basic mic cable, nothing fancy.
 
Yup, the whole point of balanced cable is to allow long runs without interferance. By its nature it cancels any garbage it may pick up from long runs. Pro sound guys routinly will run balanced runs down entire city blocks at festivals and street fairs. Keep an eye out and you will be surprised at events like that how far a balanced cable strung in the gutter will go to hit remote speakers. NOt the same as recording perhaps, but a testimony to balanced cable and the fact that the laws of physics on this planet seem to work pretty consistantly.
