Surprised you didn't notice it was a Ukulele though ;)
A friend of a friend's friend will be adding some lap steel to this at a later date. :thumbs up:

I knew it was something, wasn't sure what, though! Glad to hear you're going to add some slide to it - that's one technique that really defines a country sound.

I guess the mix is good enough for me. The song seems like it's a hundred years long though. Too repetitive without anything going on for tension or variety.

It is a bit long. You'll probably have to work on arrangement/dynamics to give ther chorus a bigger lift.
Otherwise it coming along nicely.

I liked the song, good for the style. :) I'm not sure at what stage of mixing the current MP3 on the OP is, but I couldn't hear any of the heavy vocal reverb everybody was commenting on. As it stood, I thought the vocal a little dry, but not just from lack of reverb. I thought a tasteful bit of slap echo might've added to the liveliness of the vocal sound to help it match up with the jauntiness of the tune. :thumbs up:

I've had no setup for a couple of weeks and just wired things back up today, but in an empty room with bare floors. so I can't really comment on mix balance. The song itself does work for me though - I think you can get away with the length and repetition because of the storytelling element.

It reminds me of those old epic ballads that Dylan used to do, both in terms of content and style. I'm looking forward to hearing it with some lap steel on though, maybe that will add some more in the way of dynamics that other folks have pick up on.
