I have paid respect to Jim Marshall, I have many of his amps. Just stop challenging me on everything. So did you see the Grammys? Did you see the big blue Laney amps?

VP

I didn't challenge you on anything. You're being argumentative and intentionally derailing this thread. Take your act somewhere else, please.

Yes you did, did you see the Foofighters at the Grammys or not?

VP

Yeah VP...I mean, why is it so important that the FF used Laney's at the Grammys?
OK, they used them...but this thread was about Jim Marshall's legacy.
I'm sure Laney amps are good...but don't beat on it in this thread.

Maybe you can start a different thread talking about various amps or specifically about Laney amps...etc. :)

I was just defending my comment about the Foofighters using Laney.

VP

I don't think anyone was doubting that the FF used them at the Grammys...but the fact that they've used other amps much more so over their carreer...is also a valid point.

Personally...the stuff that gets used by artists at some of the huge, worldwide shows, like the Grammys...in many cases is all about specific promo deals. I mean, yeah, lots of gear used by big artists is about promo deals...but something like the Grammys is ALL about that. Not to mention, these days, there are artists who put up promo gear on their front line...but have a backline behind the curtain that some tech is manipulating for them. I'm not saying the FF did that with the Laney amps...just making the point that marketing plays a major role with what big-name artists show to the world.

I always like to know what bands use when they record, 'cuz those are the tones people are going to be the most familiar with and commit to memory about a given artists/record...etc.

In a thread dedicated to Marshall? Prize winner for lack of class goes to you dood.

Definitely worth repeating. :D

Now then, can anyone else see why Pete ends up on the receiving end of so much antipathy? It's not "internet bullying" it's the result of one man's inability to see when he's wrong and back out gracefully. And he keeps using the "L" word whenever he can, which is commercial spamming in my book.

OK...OK...let's not further *&$% up the thread by now turning it to a discussion about VP... ;)

I think the message was clear.
*Don't troll this thread with Laney posts.*
Let's see where it goes. :eatpopcorn:

My Marshall rig (with an unmentionable 2x12 in the middle) but note where the mic is :D

I posted in the Cave somewhere about not understanding VP's intentions - but once again, here people are discussing him instead of the topic at hand. Maybe that's what it's all about?!?!

Anyway, back on topic, Marshall totally rock, dooood :guitar:!!!!!

Fuck yeah, Bubba. The only Marshall with more knobs than that is the JVM!

Probably my best gear purchase ever: '82 Marshall 2204 head/1960a half stack slightly used in '85...$600 cash and a Peavey Musician head/oversize Peavey 4x12 cab trade.
