Just listening now. Walter, what happened with the job?

Tim

Hi Tim: I have been fighting the school systems for 12 years, trying to teach mentally retarded students hands on life skills, through the bakery I started in my classroom. Unfortunately, education thinks these students will fare better with 1-2nd grade academics through 12th grade. They refuse to look at the facts, and the biggest pink elephant, I have ever seen, is called special education in public schools. I went to my doctor last week, and he gave me 2 months of sick leave, for stress. I am going to ride this until my wife and I move to corvallis, oregon, in the spring. I have no desire to go back in the classroom and be a babysitter. Anyway, enough of that. THis is where I am going with the mentally retarded population- smiling-with-hope.org

Thanks for asking! Walter

Rami, I've talked to Walter a few times and had his page bookmarked, that's all.

Passion blues. It's hell that bad times make the most inspired music come out (or is it relief?) and I've been there too. This track has some superbly performed guitar, harp, and vocal work. It's almost beside the point that it's beautifully recorded. The vocal/guitar passage at 3:04-3:08 is unforgettable.

Rare that I hear music that's so immediate and honest. Inspring.

thanks for those kind words Tim! I take that as a huge compliment, seeing I think your music is top, of the top shelf, and recorded the same. I am thankfull that I can just sit down and let it out. If I didn't, I would probably be in jail for murder, or insane, or both. I just posted another from todays session, if you could live forever. I have about 7 more to mix tomorrow, including, letting my shotgun do the talking. Singing out your blues is a sure cure from acting out on alot of this stuff. Take care, I am off to sit with the wife and dogs for a spell. Walter

Walter, I read your web page about your middle school program in Santa Rosa, CA. It must break your heart to have a program with such benefit to the kids and great potential for expansion, and then instead of getting the Teacher of the Year award you run into administrative roadblocks that are all too common in education. Figures. Such a shame.

And all this time I thought you were only a band!

Thanks again Tim! It is very sad, for the students I am leaving. It was the first time they have been successful at something in school. I actually have won numerous awards for the program, but the constant battle to keep it alive, has wore me out. I view this as a good sign. It is going to move me to a place where my talents will be appreciated, instead of feared. When we sell our ridiculously overpriced californina home, we will be able to buy some land, and a real nice, small house, in corvallis, oregon. This will allow me to get more creative with my work outside of music. I am going to work with the mentally retarded adult population for sure, and pray I will be able to open some sort of business(es) that employ them- texas bbq, pizzeria, bakery, high end dog biscuit manufacturing, running a kennel for older rescue dogs, that will be used for social therapy in nursing homes, with the MR adults, caring for the dogs, and taking them daily to the homes. I have a ton of ideas, that the schools would not even respond to. It is time! Walter
