I'm told this is but rock. First by chrisharris then by my guitarist:)
I'm ok with that. It's a total goof off song to learn some new progarms, but it's growing on me.

Give me thoughts on the mix if you could. Keep in mind I know it's rough..The lead guitarist (that did the solo) just walked out the door, but let me have it. I could use some thought on general balance and tone.
The mix seems a little dark to me. I'm messing with the VC 64 in sonar 6 and it seems to warm thing up but maybe too much.

Let me know what you think.

It now has a name "It's in my gender"

cool tune....not sure what i could say about the mix cuz its sounding good already!
and i don't feel the whole "butt rock" lable in this tune.....not sure what that means but i assume the same as cock rock? either way...it has your style from what i gathered from your other tunes. def. not cock rock..

Thanks man. I desputed the whole butt rock thing but got ganged up on
Like you, I am not sure what exactly it is. As for cock rock.. I really don't want to know :D To me I guess for both I think of glam. The guy on the local station descibed it like this "Def Lepard before one armed drummer, not butt rock. Def Lepard after one armed drummer, Butt rock" Sort of rude but perhaps there is profound hidden meaning in it?

Not sure how to apply that but, what the hell.

Thanks Again

Hey Freud...sounds good. Love the ride bell ring...reminds me of the cowbell lost....I love cowbell!!!

Sounds great. I love that vox of yours..damn.

The rest of the performance sounds good.

I can't nit pick anything in the mix either. I am listening on the headphones, but I bet when I listen on the monitors tomorrow there still will be no nit picking. :D

I think it sounds more like SpankSHED music.... :D :D :D :D :D

Yep good driving rock song. The snare sound is kinda wierd but it works well with the guitars. I like the ride. Vocals are cool too. Catchy tune

Thanks True & Bulls Hit.

I just uploaded a little better tweeked version. After adding the new guitar licks I had to tweek the backups a bit, a little creative envelope work.

What do you think of the over all eq of the song on you guy's systems?
I was thinking it myght be a little bottom heavy?

Thanks again.

Hey, would you like Funnelhead to be part of the next Open Mic Night at the Cafe Virtuale (my music podcast)?

I like it...I also checked out 'Fair Weather Friend'....like it too.

The vocals remind me of a hybrid of Glen Danzig, and Jimmy Farrar!
:D

Well Thank you:)

I must admit I have no idea who Jimmy Farrar is :o
I did listen to it after recording and thought "I'm Danzig only skinny and poor:D"

Thanks again for the comment.

Go for it and thanks. Send me a link and when it will happen if you could.
Got no pod my self but I'm sure I can figure a way to capture it.
If you need or want anything from me let me know.

Thanks Again

Butt Rock - cool - I haven't seen that under the Soundclick Rock categories though :D :D :D :D That Chris is a funny guy!

Once again you have me rocking out to one of your tunes. They are loud and proud and right in your face rock and roll - excellent. I think it's mainly the vocal style but the driving guitars, bass and drums contribute greatly as well.

The snare has a lot of punch but I would like to hear a bit more snap or crack. Personal preference only.... I'm getting some kind of gate or reverse reverb on it at the very beginning - the effect might be a bit too much as it cuts off the ring. The kick seems low on my PC speakers...

Good rhythm sound - full, raunchy and rocking.

Lead guitar has a nice tone/verb to it.

The delivery / performance is fabulous - full of energy and feeling...

This rocks!

:) :D :) :D

FS - Dude, I must admit that I've been seeing this song and hesitating listening 'coz you called it Bu** rock. I mean seriously what straight guy would wanna hear it?

:)

But I figured I'd peek and since the reviews were good, I listened anyway. :)

So yeah, I don't know about the bu** rock bit but this is really good.

The Vox - A+.
The Guitar - A++. Crunchy and very crisp and tight.
The bass - A+.
The drums - A+.

The overall performance is also very cool and driving.

Just want to say thanks ido1957 & bigbubba:) I'll comment more in the morning but I'm off to the sack now.

Thank you very much for your comments.

This is great. It's nice to hear some hard rock thats not Screamo-core or whatever they call that shit. Have you posted this before? It sounds familiar or maybe I just heard it while cruising through your other stuff. Anyway, I have no real nits with it. Sounds great for a rough mix. Maybe clean up the guitars slightly and bring the bass up a little more, but that's subjective. Overall a really cool song. Faces is cool too. I really like that one.

You guys are too kind.
Thanks for all the comments.

ido1957: Ya the drums are midi. It's the first time I've ever used midi. I figured I sould learn (mainly for a synth sound hear or there) I plan to track real drums to it soon. I think what you here at the very begining before the music is compression pumping/sucking what ever you want to call it;)

Thanks for your comments

bigbubba: I'm glad you got past the thread title:D Thanks so much for the comments you really are too kind but I'll take it. I really enjoy singing this song. It's just fun. I think it's the funnest song I have.

Greg_L: Ya I posted this song before it had a name with no vocals and no lead guitar. I layed down vocals to this holding them up in front of me because I wrote them like 10 minutes before I tracked them. I do need to do a little more work on the mix but I think I'll waite until I get real drums down.
That will change things a bit. Drummer has a cd so I'll give him a little time with it. I told him I may keep the ride that's on the song no because my overhead's suck either that or it's me;) Well just have to see.

Once again thanks for taking a listen everyone and for all the comments.

Sorry about your hand - that's a big drag for guitar players. Back to the midi drums, what are you playing them through (soundcard/keyboard/module?). I find a huge difference when I play the midi track through the different "players". Sometimes the lo-fi method with some tweaking sounds pretty good..... :D

It's a soft synth. Cake walk session drummer 2. I ran the midi track through another soft synth (can't remember the name) but session drummer was better. I still haven't figured out how to add swing to the track. That was frustrating it made the drums very hard to play next to.
I know in fruity loops you can just slide a slider to where you like it. Of course you never see the midi, it's a much friendlier interface. But like I said I want to learn how to use midi. I plan to buy like a $150.00 controller when I can afford it.

Wrist will get better;)

Thanks again.

Thanks for the comments Gary. Glad you like. I love that ride sound too. I love a bell like sound in rock songs. In real heavey stuff I like that hammer and anvil sound;) But that's in very heavy stuff.

Thanks for listening.

Look up some of the tunes from an old Molly Hatchet album, called "Beatin' The Odds". Jimmy Farrar is doing the vocals, he replaced Danny Jo Brown for that album and the one following it, in 1980.
