I am working on a cd, but in order to get enough money to press it up when it's done (Probably early next year), I'd need to start whoring the streets... So I came up with an idea. I was thinking of putting out a two track single with remixes of each one (4 tracks total) and sell'n 'em for like $4 or $5... Is that the stupidest thing you've ever heard or is it a decent idea? Doesn anyone still even buy singles? Would anyone of you pay $5 for 2 originals and 2 remixes? Feedback is nice.... be nice.

Hey Nick,

I admire a business man who wants to make money......however IMO based on ur stated intentions I would try to gain the fans instead of draining the fans.........If your talkin 2 tracks burn them on cd and pass them out for the bubble and get the word out........

We all would like to make the dough from our work, but you need to gain fans right now that will intern buy any product you put out whether its singles in the future or more albums......

Its like this....If someone approached me and said hey man this cats hot here's a 2 track single for 5 bucks I would personally not buy it....and its not because of the money I would feel like someone is tryin to sell me somethin and I don't like that.......However, in turn if the same person approached me and gave me the CD then 2 things are guaranteed:

1. I am going to listen to it
2. If its good I'm gonna buy the album

The other way does not guarantee everyone will listen to it cuz they may not buy it......make sense?

oh and as far as the money portion for ya pressing on the CD.....you have a year save the dough........and make the killing when the cd is released....

I agree with Gec. If you are wanting to sell cd's. You'd do better with a Ep type thing. 2 songs for the 5 is kinda weak for what's going on now a days. You got bootleg cd's of famous cats going for 5 on the street corner. If the money is kinda tight I suggest you take what you got and package it the best you can as a Ep. It's amazing what results you can get in Microsoft Word. Buy some cheap cds and cases and some Avery labels or printable stickers. Download some dope fonts and sit down and create an attractive package. Burn out some cd's and give it a shot. Probably won't make you much but it'll give give you a chance to see what you can expect when the whole cd comes out. It takes a hustler to get money off cats for something like that on the streets. I'm not talking about running game, i'm talking about putting in the work. You gotta be down to holla at everybody. Old white ladies and all.
