No, I'm not exactly talking about losing signal level, I'm talking about the actual gain reduction done by the compressor and showing on the meters. I cant adjust the compressor low enough to where it ISNT showing 2-3 db gain reduction on the gain reduction meter when the preamp is just shy of clipping.
Seems at zero, that I should get nothing on the meters until I start to move the threshold. Am I wrong?
Phosphene- its not reading the input gain of the preamp... I'm setting my input signal at the preamp to be just shy of clipping, then running out of the preamp to the compressor, where I am encountering the "problem" Which really isnt a problem at all, really, I'm really actually just curious about this particular trait. Technically though it is reading the output. I havent been using it as an insert but just directly out. Maybe I should.
