Any help would be much appreciated.

A bit more info:

These were recorded into a Zoom MRS 1266. I used a Samson LDC to record the guitars and most of the vocals, SM-58 on 'Tears on the side of you' (because it was recorded live and the samson was being used to mic the acoustic guitar).
I don't like the samson and I now have a MXL 603 (mainly for acoustic guitar) and a MXL V67G (mainly for vox) so I'm hoping these will be an improvement in future recordings.

As I say, help/opinions/suggestions/feedback is greatly appreciated.

Kevin, hey, they're not that bad for a first try! What I'd do if I were you is read up all you can on eq, paying particular attention to cutting low frequencies. That's where a lot of your mud is coming from. Also, here's a good rule of thumb for reverb: If you can really notice it, then chances are it's too much. Just for giggles, try this: Take your guitar track and roll off the lows around 80. Take you vocals, and roll them off somewhere around 100. Back off the reverb quite a bit. If you've got reverb on the guitar, I'd try it without any at all. On the vox, try just enough to where you can barely hear it on your main vocal. On backing vocals perhaps a little more. Then give it a listen.

Sounds like you've got some other effects going there as well, but I'm not sure. Go easy on the effects until you get a handle on the mix. To me it all sounds kinda..."wet", if you know what I mean?

Liked your tunes man, stay with it!

Just my opinion, ymmv, standard disclaimers, etc.

That's just the kind of feedback I've been after ravenwing, I'm very grateful.

I was interested to hear I've overused the effects (verb in particular). I try to back them off a bit so's I can't hear them but I guess I'm not cutting back enough, probably because I mix soon after tracking and my ears just become accustomed to the 'wetness'.
Listening back now I see where you're coming from.

I know I need more experience shaping each sound with eq. I followed your suggestions and it certainly gave things more clarity and less mud, I'm sure your advice on cutting those lower frequencies will see an improvement in future recordings.

Thanks a lot for the listen, the kind words and most of all the advice.
