I definitely have to buy Sonar for my new DAW (soon to be purchased, assembled and used), but was thinking that, for economy sake, I would go with 5 rather than 6 if I could find an unused copy (because they can't be re-used/sold secondhand, right?).

Does anyone know of anywhere in Toronto, Canada that might have an unopened Sonar 5 box collecting dust, or does anyone on this site have such a thing?

Thanks,

I've asked this question of SONAR several times and never recieved a reply but, I'm pretty sure I recall someone here on this board having actually read the EULA which in a long drawn out, roundabout, technobabblish way says that you cannot resell.

Anyways, I'll keep an eye out and here's a bump for your thread. Are you looking for a bargain or simply a retail new package? I'm sure someone on this side of the border might consider picking up a copy and sending it. What could shipping cost? Right?

Hi Punkin and dogman,
Thanks for the responses.

Punkin, in answer to your question, I suppose I'm looking for both an unopened/unused package and a bargain if I can get one! Really, I don't want to use cracked software or anything like that.

dogman, that's a great suggestion - having someone pick it up in teh U.S. - and my experience has been that it is possible to order some but not necessarily all music related items (and other items) from the U.S.. Some companies just won't ship to Canada.

I'd rather try to get something here, though, for various reasons. First, is that sometimes the duty that one can pay can be horrendous (it's discretionary whether or not customs opens items priced about $20 U.S. shipped to Canada, and I have only had this happen a couple of times but on each occasion it has added over 100% to the eventual cost of the items to me).

Second, if something goes wrong or there is the issue of replacement or something (hard with an older copy of Sonar, I realize) I'd rather have a warrantee (which I wouldn't have if I bought from outside the country and maybe even the province). Third, I prefer to have somebody local that I can talk to, either by 'phone or in person, should the need/problems arise.

Anyway, I'll keep searching and if worst comes to worst will buy 6, I guess; might as well go the whole hog and get PE, don't you think?

Thanks,

GV

I've also seen some unopened boxes at Guitar center recently, of version 5. Not sure what the price was. Maybe a local place similar to that would possibly have it....

Hi guys,
Thanks.

A friend of mine points out that, unlike anybody else, Long & McQuade has a 30 day money back guarantee, so I think that I'll try there first. It's a shame that I can't use the connection to a client of mine who knows the 'Long' in 'Long & McQuade' because I'm going to be spending a lot of money in that store.

Dm1 thanks for introducing me to revolution audio.

It turns out that software is NOT included in that 30 day policy.

Thanks, Reilly, for this piece of information.

And thanks to everyone else who posted here.
