I recently bought a mxl v67, mainly because of the rave reviews I read here on this board. I got to say that after using it for a while, I'm not real happy with it. I've used it on 2 different (male) vocalists, through my JoeMeek, through my mixing board, & straight to tape(disk), all with the same result: The mids are just not there & I get a lot of sibilance. I understand the sibilance might be related to mic placement, but I've tried a few different placements. As far as the mids go, my vocal tracks just seem kind of thin. Even boosting the mids with eq doesn't seem to help. Do I have a bad mic, a bad ear, or bad technique?
