Is my gate broke?

I have a dbx 363x that I picked up off ebay a few months ago. When the gate closes everything is fine but when the gate re-opens there is an audible pop in the sound. I don't think this is normal but every gate i normally use functions more as an expander so there is no real opening and closing. Is this normal for just a standard gate?
I picked up a Dbx project 1 274 quad gate/expander last night so I will be looking to get rid of the 363x. I don't want to sell a faulty piece of equipment though. Is my gate broke?
 
Sudden, yes. Click, no... It might not hurt to try and get in touch with a DBX tech and see if there's a quick fix for it though...

If you end up having to sell it, put something like "Not quite up to studio standards, but great for live use" on it.

hmmm Massive its more of a click sound but I find it too noticable to actually use. Maybe it is because I know its there but it really bothers me.
Thanks for the advice john, maybe tom cram or someone will jump in here.
