Is it possible to hook this up?

I've got a Tascam DP-02 and a Peavey Escort 2000 (pictures are attached below). The Tascam only has 2 XLR inputs...is it possible for me to hook the PA & the Tascam up together, so that I'll have more inputs?

I hope I'm making sense here! If not, feel free to ask me to explain more. thanks a lot :)

If you want to record more independent tracks, it doesn't look like it. The Escort will just mix its inputs down and the Tascam will record them as one or two combined tracks at a time.

Okay, I see what you're saying but I'm trying to figure out exactly what you mean. So, will that happen because of not being able to "arm" the Escort to the Tascam??

Let me take a stab at making this understandable to you.

First, there is NOTHING you can do to make the DP-02 record in more than 2 channels at once. So, to answer your question, you can't do what you want to do.

You could hook up to 4 inputs to the Peavey Escort 2000, mix them as you like them, and send that to one input of the DP-02, which would leave you with the other DP-02's input to use as a 5th channel, but you would not be able to edit or remix them after recording.

But it looks like that is the best you are going to get with those two devices. As they say, you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

Okay it makes sense now. Thanks for the advice and the insult at the end.

I tried finding some info about the Escort rig, turns out the amp is in the mixer, pretty common. I couldn't find anything that indicates there are preamp level outputs. From the little research I did it seems the only outputs are the powered outs for the speakers. I don't think you could run a speaker out to the input on the recorder.

Well, you could use a direct box with the pad set to 40dB, but that's getting silly.

Look at the pic the OP posted- just to the left of the word PEAVEY are 4 RCA jacks- two are line outs. They are shown in the user's manual, but not discussed, which is kinda strange: why put them there but not tell your prime consumer- noob PA users- what they are there for?
