Is it my Monitors or Room?

Master of the Obvious
When I stand up and my Event 20/20p tweeter is at about chest level, I then can hear much more definition in most everything especially the drums. When I lean forward it gets even more detailed. I can hear the "recorded room" & Reverb plugs better too. The low end stands out more (drums again). It's like the Mids are cluttering things up when in the optimal triangle position.

Any ideas or explanations ?

My Situation...
Room: Box in a box, 9'x15' x8'(h), Carpet floor (on top of cement), 70% of the room is R-11 insulation, 30% is sheetrock.
One of the short walls is floor to ceiling S/R w/ a door. The other 3 walls have 1 piece of S/R horizontal on the bottom 4' of the room. the entire ceiling is insulation. Lots of posters and tapestrys overtop of the insulation. It's a pretty dead room.

This room was built for band practice that now I record and mix in also. When I first built it and it was 100% insulation, we tried to play in it but there was almost No Sound. & we played Loud. It was very strange. SO I put up some S/R to bounce around some frequencys. It's great for Band practice, you can hear everything.

Mixing Desk: it's right in front of a piece of the S/R that stops at the top of my monitors. Monitors are 6" away from the wall 31/2" apart w/ tweeters at ear level.

My monitors are sitting on top of bare plywood.
Would putting aurelex behind my monitors and Mopads underneath help or is this just a characteristic of my Event 20/20?

Any Opinions of my room would be great too. I've thought about putting up some wood paneling to help the room sound for drums and accoustics, but think it might be best to leave it dead and just use Reverb Plugins.?.

Thanks for any input,
B.
