It looks like a lot of Fostex home recording products that used to be available from big online retailers are no longer available. FostexUSA.com went belly-up. I can't get any kind of reply from Fostex's new US distributor. Fostex corporate also is unreachable.

Are they just closing up shop? Can we expect any kind of customer service or sales contacts in the future? This seems like a weird situation.

Fostex ???

I echo your thoughts exactly !

I'm very interested in the Fostex LR 16 but can't find anyone who's bought one. I've had one on back order at Musician's Friend since Nov. As you said,
U.S. sales/service/support are " up in the air ". Would I be "up the creek" if I bought one of their products ? Anyone out there know whats-up with Fostex?

It's too bad, the LR16 would be perfect for what I'm doing. Sure the Presonus Studio/Live has way more inpressive and advanced features but it wouldn't eliminate, lighted or simplify the gear needed to record live. The Fostex LR16 would eliminate the snake and ac cable to FOH. Plus the stage box could be prewired to effects, compressors,Hear Back hub ect. in a shallow rack on stage. And a single cat 5 cable to FOH. WOW !

Somebody please pick up this ball and run with it !

I just went to the website and the Fostex USA site is closed...

Terfyn would be the guy to discuss this with, but I believe that if you go to the main Fostex website you get two destination choices..."Japan" or "International".
It looks as if they've pulled up stakes here in the US.

Terfyn has suggested to take these questions to the following site in past threads...
http://mygear.olivier-recordings.com/user/categories.aspx?pcid=202165&ct=fostex

...and I have done so myself. I try to post issues in both places just for record, though. There may be other Fostex users here on HR that don't know about that site or prefer to stay here.

I don't believe we'll be getting any Fostex sales or service support from here on out. I made sure to download a copy of the actual service manual in case mine starts acting up.

Hope this helps, even if it wasn't good news.

Yeah, it's too bad. I will be looking in other directions when I get home and start recording again. My MR-8 got blown up when I let my nephew use it....
