I have some projects that I created in SX3 some years but I know longer have the program. I am currently using Cubase 5 Essentials and have been unsuccessful opening those files. Am I out of luck?

Thanks.

If those are .wav files you should be able to import them into the Audio Pool under the Media pulldown. You select a wav file and select "import" and it comes into the audiopool. Then from there you can insert it into a project. Make sure the project is set to the same bit rate/sample rate as the wav files. Also set the tempo if you remember it. Hope this helps.

It's because you are using the 'essentials' version of Cubase 5. There are obviously things that SX was doing that don't translate to the cheap version of 5.

If you had big version of Cubase 5, it would open.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Dintymoore, I did save all of my files as .cpr's.

What's sad is that I can't find a copy of sx3 anywhere...and don't want a cracked version.

You can sometimes find old versions on eBay, or put a WTB listing on the audio boards, someone will be willing to unload their old unused copy.

That's my feeling too, although I don't have 5. I have Cubase SX3 and 4, and any .cpr's I've tried have opened in either.

So jbass16 I don't think you necessarily need to use SX3 to open up the projects you made with SX3, from what I know Cubase 4 will work and my understanding is that Cubase 5 would work also.

Projects saved as a "Cubase Song", like I used in Cubase VST 24 will open in SX3 but not in Cubase 4.

Thanks for all the comments...

I was able to locate compatibility chart and you guys are right, I need to upgrade.

Time to start saving. :)

Thanks again, best of luck in your endeavors, and God Bless!
