Is a ticket printing service requred?

Being a local/regional promoter, do I need to have a ticket printing service? Or should I rely solely on the venue to handle that for me? I understand some venues will print the tickets for you

I guess I'm trying to decide if I need this service or not (called eTix and they are cheap and easy to use).

I would rely on the venue...If you started having tickets printed for shows, you would have an extra step of confronting the Venue that people would be showing up with tickets that didn't go through them...they might not like that.

We've used to rely on the venue for tickets, but designs are usually sub-par. So we've designed our own tickets, and cut many problems out.
