hi ... a friend of mine have sent me a link of this annual "international songwriting competition" site ... with really impressive amount of famous people withinh the music industry being the judges in it ...
now it costs 30$ per song for participation ...
just wanted to ask if someone have heard of it / competed in it / knows if it's a scam ...
i would have like to enter this competition and i think i have some good songs but i'm not willing to pay 30$ for someone to maybe steal my song ...
any thoughts / information ?

if it's songwritingcompetition.com , it appears to be legit.

it is songwritingcompetition.com how can you tell if it's legit ?

It is legit, we have helped promo the contest before to our musicians. They are a well established competition, having been around for several years and are sponsored and partnered by some big names in music including:

Shure
Epiphone
Berklee
ASCAP
Cakewalk
Disc Makers
D'Addario
iSound
SongU
Artistopia
Unsigned Music Magazine
etc...

But it is good to check out any contest you are interested in. Do a web search and look for feedback. Take note that a contest follows through with the prizes awarded/monies. You may find remote off-color comments on some big name competitions, but that could be an unhappy non-winner. Take those with a grain of salt.

Do take notice how the judging process works to avoid any disillusionment. They do get thousands of entries in some of the larger contests. Ones that offer a review to ALL entrants are a plus.

Some are "offended" at competitions that you have to pay to enter. That's how the world of any kind of competition or contest works. It takes a good deal of money to promote the contest, print advertising, organizing, raising funds for cash prizes and possibly paying for the judges time. It's just standard procedure.
