I actually have not uploaded anything at all yet... I've been working on this SO LONG LOL.
My brother also use my microphone with his friends.. not really for singing, but I'm sure he has a clip I can find. Let me look for you

at 47 seconds or something when he says the word in.
For me it's much worse because I'm actually singing, and he doesn't really care much about it since it's just a funny video for him.

The girl wasn't using my microphone btw so ignore the static that was just his oovoo friend

I don't hear anything happening during the word in at 47 seconds other than singing of key and whispering which is a singing problem not a recording problem.

Oh XD... you're probably right it is just singing.
I had him sing the same thing to me, and it did sound that way.

I probably just can't hear myself differently, the only ways I can hear myself are from my phone recording, and computer recordings.

Also, do you guys know for playback ion microphone settings, should I use default playback device or my speakers?

And lastly, should my vocal tracks be stereo, or mono?

if you are using 1 microphone it should be mono the only time you should be using stereo tracks is for stereo sources such as keyboards or samplers, even dual microphone recording I suggest using two tracks so that you can process them separately.

Vocals are mono.

If anything, it sounds like someone singing too close to the mic. Just back off a bit and it should help.

Thank you all so much for replying and helping tons!
I've tried again and am singing about 1 feet away from the microphone, + using mono rather then stereo, etc adjusted recording volume so I can hear / edit, changed the way I was singing, and now it sounds the way I'd like it .

Hey guys,
About the Reaper thing.
I notice if you increase the volume of a track (max of +12 db) the sound doesn't "clip" it stays just fine, but in a louder tone.
Is this okay to do?
I know it's definitely not an option on Audacity, because of the clipping.

The reason I'm asking is because, sometimes when converting the entire project to a mp3 (using LAME) it might come out differently than what I originally heard.

peaking tracks while mixing is not as bad but try to avoid it and definitely don't ever let your master/main go into clipping, that's why most people put a limiter on the main to keep this from happening by accident but don't rely on it for volume control because it will start to sound harsh if pushed too hard.
