Hi,

maybe a stupid question but here it goes: When I connect a stereo jack-double mono jack cable into the insert (with the stereo plug off course), and put one mono jack into my soundcards input and the other one in the output of my soundcard, I can record the signal going through the mixers channel without interupting it?

this is correct, isn't it?

Yep that's my understanding.

The inserts are post trim, pre eq, fader & everything else

Depending on the console (works on Mackies) you can plug the TRS jack halfway in to the insert and it will send the signal and still allow it to pass through the rest of the board. If you were to return the signal from the soundcard like you mentioned then you might have some latency that could make it tricky to perform.
