I have been working on a Yamaha acoustic guitar that has the piezo undersaddle pickup. The owner wanted a bone saddle fitted. Ever since I installed it he has been back with string level issues. I examined it and refiled and reseated it only to find there seems to be a dead spot. It is only really apparent when played through the pickup. I have ruled out other factors by simply reversing the saddle in the bridge. Whichever strings are under the dead spot on the saddle are weak. It is the B and G strings. I have heard about bone being inconsistent but have never had one. I am about to cut a new saddle but would like some input.
