Incoming messages change pitch and tempo

Any incoming message from Whatsapp or email changes the pitch and tempo of the song I'm working on in Sonar. The only thing I can think of that might do that is if incoming messages are sending (deliberately or by accident) a change of bitrate. Has anyone heard of this problem or know what's going on?

It's probably your audio device switching the the sample rate used by the app.

That happens with cubase on my system if any audio is loaded that tries to access the interface. You do get a warning about allowing different formats in one project ... sometimes!
