I have a Mac, a Yamaha synth and a 8-track Tascam MKII. Just acquired the midiman syncmaster. What's the set up to trigger all from the 8-track and playback?

I read your other post but I didn't respond because I'm not familliar with the Yamaha synth's direct connection to the computer. But maybe we can get it working.
I would try hooking up the Tascam and Midiman to the mac and get that working before introducing the keyboard to the mix. I'm not sure how you you stripe the tape with that Midiman unit but usually they have a WRITE button and once you press that it sends the sync signal to record to tape. Do you have a manual for it?
Then you set the mac sequencer to EXTERNAL MIDI SYNC (MTC) and it should follow the 8track.

Thanks for the reply. You are right. I am actually missing a midi interface for the Mac, i.e. serial port to Midi converter. Just found one. As you said the Tascam should go to the Mac, then the Mac triggers the keyboard.
