Somewhere I found a guide with tips for tweaking Windows XP for best performance. It talked about disabling certain services in Device Mangler, as I recall.

Anybody know where this resource is?

All this tweaking for performance is really out of 1998 or something. If you have even a half decent PC then you wont have a problem...unless it has some kind of porn gridlock or spyware spying on the spyware.

Porn gridlock? On MY computer? You wouldn't find any of that stuff on MY computer. No sir. No porn anywhere on my computer. Why I'm a good christian man, like that Ted Haggard guy in Colorado Springs who got caught with a hooker and methamphetamines, but porn? uh-uh, no sireebob.

Hang on, I got a pop-up...geez look at that rack (audio rack, of course).

Thanks for the comments. I've about decided not to mess with tweaking my computer other than turning off internet and anti-virus.

Here's Another Guide

Here's another guide for determining what services can be disabled. It's aimed at better performance for gaming, but this still applies to doing whatever you want faster. I would say don't disable anything dealing with audio though.
