OK, here's a tune I wrote last night and recorded between then and this afternoon. Not much to write - I picked up the bass and wrote the little progression, which I looped up in Acid. It's just a LONG guitar jam - a wankfest, though a bit more melodic than shredding (since I can't shred...lol). Anyway, it's definitely a lights out, incense (or something) burning, headphone kind of tune... Maybe an outro for an album?

Two of my favorite solos are Watermelon in Easter Hay by Zappa and Purple Rain by Prince - these major, drawn out wailing solos that are a bit outside the norm... So, this was my take on that theme. A little extra guitar, some vocals, and it was all set. Oh, and it also has my usual Floyd influence as well...

Here's the AcidPlanet page: http://www.acidplanet.com/Lounge/Detail.asp?PID=171252

If you don't wanna deal with the AP scene, here's a link to the mp3 on this site:

I really like the tones on this and the way it sounds. It started with that bass sound, which I got by experimenting going straight into the VC6 and then applying some FX. The guitar lead uses the Mutron Biphase preset (tweaked) from the Waves MetaFlanger, which is one of my favorites (The MetaFlanger is also doing the chorus on the bass).

Oh - the intro has a clip of a song that my little Smokey pocket amp picked up while I was using it as a pre!

Any thoughts on whether I should "liven up" the drums? I kind of think it works well like this, but I was just too damn lazy to try something else...

Cool groove. You've got a nice Pink Floyd thing going on there. :-)

Very clean sounds.

Keep it up.

Duh!

This is excellent as usual.

Very nice emotional state it puts one in.

Dude, you need to hang out more here and less at that Acid place thing :D

Funk on!

Cool stuff man.... I like that voice stuff going on...if that's what it is.

The drums were entirely tolerable but it might be worth getting a better drum sound for this song. That's just my opinion.

Great stuff dude!!!

Thanks for the comments, guys!

Yeah, I'm debating the drum line still... I'm just not sure if I want to take away from that bubbling background flow by mixing it up... The drum take is the same as the loop I threw on there as a "click track" when recording the bass, so... Maybe I'll poke around with it.

Cyan, thanks for the comments. The reason I hang out at AcidPlanet is that the people there aren't nearly as accomplished as here, so they're easier to impress. ;)

cool mood to this tune.. I liked it for the most part.. You can tell you were feeling it.. There's some notes that are pretty out, but I see what you were going for. Nice guitar parts though.. Not crazy about the drums, but I guess they fit the mood... I really like the vibe of the song.... luckily I had something burning when I listened to it. :)

cool tune:cool:

Cool stuff. Maybe at least add some reverb to the drums.
I took Sabb's que and decided to burn something too.

yep, I had a smile on my face immediately when the song started. I am a huge P Floyd fan, and I like your style(kinda later Floydish). A longer sustain on the vocals at intro would make it sound smoother, I think.
Lovely bass sound, but the hard panned lead guitar is makine me a little dizzy tho..

Nod bad, not bad at all!

Keep up the good work
