Twisted, my mind is twisted
I'm sorry you missed it
I'm sorry but I'm not the one
Demented, my brain is fermented
My soul is dented
I'm sorry but I'm not the one

I'm not the one to help you out
When you're feeling down and out
I'm not the one to give a fuck
When you're feeling down on your luck

Don't turn to me
I can't be bothered with sympathy
Don't come to me
I'm the poster-child for apathy

Uncaring, my mood is unsharing
Yeah I'm overbearing
I'm sorry but I'm not the one
No feeling, my mind is reeling
No I'm not healing
I'm sorry but I'm not the one

I'm not the one to understand
When your hourglass runs out of sand
I'm not the one you wanna believe
When you wear your heart on your sleeve

Don't turn to me
I can't be bothered with sympathy
Don't come to me
I'm the poster-child for apathy

I prefer your more humorous stuff but I'm not a big fan of punk so the humor offsets that. That being said, this is still very well tracked and performed. I think you get one of the best drum sounds on these forums.

Good lyrics, mang.

Has a 80's so-cal hardcore feel to it. Nice work. Listening on my crappy work speakers, I have zero suggestions for improvement.

Love the guitar parts. That was cool. Playing was real good.

On the "I'm sorry but I'm not the one" lines it seemed like you struggled to hit the note on the second "I'm".

Overheads are really wide. I didn't really notice it until the middle break.

Everything else was great.

Love the bass line. The backing vocals sound good too. Pretty frantic - I like it. Got a nice surf punk vibe.

(great ending too) - can't really think of anything to change - I will listen to it on monitors later.

This could be subtitled Profile of a Sociopath.
The intro is incredible as is the outro - those slightly slower sections actually allow you to show your chops a little better - nice wanging on the whammy bar too.
Terrific lyrics - they really do a) describe a sociopath (inability to empathise being key) but also b) essay the general feeling of sensory & emotional overload that's come post GFC, Gulf Spill, Tornado Alley, 10% unemployment with someone, anyone asking for even more understanding, rtime, help, money etc.
there you go: a treatise premise based on a Greg L lyric.
REALLY enjoyable song, the frenzy is ace & the finished sound is PRO.

I liked it.The intro and outro reminds me of something i'd hear in a Quentin Torentino movie. The bass cuts through great and i only wish i could get a bass tone like that.Good stuff.

This takes me back to the late 70s except the production on this is so much better. I'm not a huge fan of the Hank Marvin guitar sound but they work well here. I Like. Great chops on show all round too.

Sweet, thanks dude. :)

I think most people generally prefer my more comical songs. But to me, this song is comical. I guess it's pretty douchey overall, but I'm laughing to myself at the simple douchebaginess of it.

Nicely done. Again......
Thanks for checking it out. :)

Awesome, thanks for checking it out SC. :)

Thanks for the comments. I originally wasn't happy with the vocals at all, but in a way, that makes me happy for this song. The vocals were tracked in a hurry and this take wasn't meant to be much more than an experiment to see how all the phrasing would fit together. At first I was like, "holy shit, I gotta retrack that mess". But I got away from it for a few days and when I went back, I liked it all sloppy and bad so I kept it and double-tracked it just as badly. Lol. The overheads are the same as always. Really wide. That's how I like em.

Great recording ... I enjoyed it.

Lol. That's cool Ray, thanks. I'm flattered that you get that much out of one of my dumb songs. I have to admit though that there's no agenda or message behind the lyrics. I'm just a selfish, uncaring asshole and proud of it. :D :p

Thanks a lot. I really dig surfy licks and guitar sounds and try to incorporate that style into my own shit most of the time. My bass tone is pretty simple - I EQ out the boom and don't let the lows overpower everything. Bass likes midrange too and I think it sounds good in a mix.

Thanks a lot man. Hank Marvin is a legend. I'm not like a tone snob or anything, but for my own stuff, I generally prefer to stay away from traditional "metal" sounding guitar tones. I don't like heavy overdrive, delay, chunky palm-mutes, or scooped mids. That's just for me though in my own music. That stuff is fine for music that goes with that kind of tone and style. The surfy tone suits me perfectly most of the time. :D

Just as you said: original CRAP!

JUST KIDDING!
This was one of the very best pieces I've ever heard here on BBS Home Recording.

I am burning CD for my new journey throughout Europe next month.
This is going to be track No 1.

Excellent!

best regards

It's high octane music, G ... superbly produced.

I'm impressed at how well you do, well ... everything.

:)

Kev-

Did you rhyme "out" with "out" in the chorus? Do you think you're Ozzy or something?! :D

Perhaps this song will be your "Short People." Your fans will read deep meanings about mental illness and prejudice, even though it's just supposed to be about a guy who's an a-hole.

The only mix issue I have is that the bass is kind of weird. It's very clear and defined, but there doesn't seem to be a ton of body to it. Maybe it works. I could picture it really undermining your live sound though.

Lol. That's high praise. Thanks. I'm not responsible for any speeding tickets you get while listening to my awesome music. ;) :p

Thanks for checking it out VHS. Sadly, I don't have a live sound. I don't do my stuff live. I'm thinking about it though. I need to clone myself. I suppose I'd have to play guitar and sing and find a few subordinates that can play bass and drum like me while doing exactly what I tell them to do. I won't allow them any individuality. You play it like I recorded it, and that's it. It would be fun for me, but I don't see that lasting very long. :o

One of the guys in my band has mentioned wanting to play my stuff, and even starting a side project where we open up for ourselves. We'll switch instruments and play my stuff, then switch back to normal and play the band stuff. Lol. I don't think it would work and always shy away from talking about it. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, but they can't play my stuff. They're good musicians, great guitarists, but they're just not cut from the same musical cloth as me. We have different backgrounds.

I like my bass sound though. It's just a 57 right up on the grill. I don't like fat, poofy, flabby bass sounds.

Awesome as always man ....... but your writing chops seem to still be improving the more stuff you do. Little small details that make your songs not just simply repetitive things like this style of music can sometimes be. Nice ending ..... love the spaghetti western moments sprinkled throughout the song.

If it were 20 years ago before the music industry went to crap I have no doubt you'd be making a name for yourself with this current stuff you're turning out.

Ha! Bass sounds awesome...isn't it like a squire or something? You mic a bass cab with a '57? I figured it was DI...anyway it sounds great throughout.

I like the backing vocals a lot on this.

Drums are crazy good. I think I hear the sizzle of the overheads more now (not that you changed anything - just me listening for it) but it sound good with a nice wash behind the whole thing.

What kind of snare is that...wood...metal? That has a '57 on it too, right? Sounds great. Most of that sound coming from the OHs? It's got crack, but it has body too. Nice. Sorry for all the questions...sounds great. I think there's a lot of energy in this beyond what you normally bring to the table. Good, frenetic energy.

Lol. I love the Spaghetti Westerns. Best movies ever. I can happily spend a whole day watching them in sequence.

Anyway, thanks Boob. I appreciate the comments. I do feel like my writing has gotten better while not getting away from my own retarded brand of music. It's gotten easier for me. I just record whatever pops into my head and don't worry about being repetitive or complex. I hear it in my head and make it happen on tape. This is another one that just came to me while sitting on the beach waiting for the fish to bite. I typed the lyrics into my phone all in one go, figured out the main riff in my head, and got after it the next few days.

"They call me Trinity" and the other two Trinity movies are awesome too although I guess they're not technically spaghetti westerns.
