This post is for the "PROFESSIONALS ONLY".

I am new to this "home recording" type stuff. And I want to make a professional sounding album with my friends. We had a budget of $200, but we spent it on a used analogue Tascam 424 MKII (BTW, what does analogue mean? Is it the same as "digital"???). What else do we need to get? We have $39 more dollars to spend. IMHO, I think that the Tascam 424 and a Radio Shack mic (that we saw in the Trading Times resale publication) could get the job accomplished.

TIA

Well... here's a professional opinion.... IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN... you think the big boys spend in the 6-digits needlessly to put out professional recordings when they could just as easily spend $200 on a freakin' PortaStudio and get the same results?????

Get your head out of your ass and start thinking about what you're asking... fer'chris'sakes!!!!

With the lack of experience and the gear you mentioned -- get your ears used to listening to crap, 'cos it seems like you're going to be hearing garbage for a while....................

Bruce

There... how was that? Do I win the dare???

Spin... I'm sure you know I'm just kidding, eh!!

:D :D

Now, if Bruce could just use his last post to start a new thread, we could just point all the newbie questions there instead of wasting time answering them ... I think it about covers everything!

(Strewth, I'm glad I didn't cop you blokes when I first started visiting here. Love ya's all ;)

Brucie...practice makes perfect...

keep trying - you'll get it right... ;) LOL

Good heavens no Bruce. Not over the top at all!
Of course we all THINK that, it's just that it hasn't been said that directly before; well, not much; lately; in the last 10 minutes.
:p

A woofer cone?

Maybe something like a bucket with a hole cut in the bottom so it can be fitted over a dog's head and round it's neck.

That way when it barks it really fookin' WOOOOOOOFFSSSS.

:D

ChrisO

no no no ...

Everyone knows a woofer cone is placed over a dogs head and around his neck to prevent him from licking his genitals....kinda like a doggie torture device !! :D

Or ....

...it could be the cone shaped material which constitutes the construction of a speaker designed to transmit low end frequencies....

.....hmmmmmmm.

Nope...doggie torture device.

I always thought it was WAFER cone, used to produce the delicious belgian wafers.
They cannot beat the belgian chocolates, ofcourse... Still...

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but anyone look at the descrip of the newbie forum lately?
Just starting? Afraid to ask a stupid question? Don't worry, in here nobody will laugh at you. But if it's on a topic covered in another forum, best to post it there.

If i was brand new to this BBS & read this thread, I think I'd find another place to post my ??'s. Too bad. most of you are really smart & offer good advice. In this thread most of you just sound like dicks.

Maybe you should relocate the negative comments to the dragon cave. No offense to the original poster. Good advice.

or why doesn't my C1 sound like a neumann. I'm running it thru a art tube pre.

 Oh gimme a fuckin' break - anybody reading this would clearly see that we are joking around.....

You miss the essence of what I'm bellyaching about Bruce. The newbie forum is a place for people to start asking questions about things that they know nothing about w/o fear of feeling that they are asking a silly question. If you want to poke fun at the silly questions that you have heard in the past in this forum, do it somewhere else.

If you want to help someone solve some basic "NEWBIE" recording questions, do it here.

The only stupid question is a question not asked
