I'm going to sell my AKG's and replace them by SP's

Strange, a $79 B1 gets chosen over a $750 Sennheiser.

Not any stranger than a used $40 Shure SM57 being chosen over a $1700 mic.

We tried a couple of mics like the 57, the 421 and 441, but the guitarist has chosen for the sound of the B1.

They have just left the studio and again the guitarist said how much he liked the sound.

Strange, a $79 B1 gets chosen over a $750 Sennheiser.

The B1 is just a great mic. Maybe not everyone likes them for everything, but really, what a fine, versatile product brimming with value.

EDIT: On second thought... keep the AKG C1000S's for drums, and add the Josephson C42's to your mic locker too.

But I have 6 MD421's, 2 MD441's, 2 D12's, 2 C451/CK1's, an M88, 3 M201's

Why should I keep the C1000's for drums? They suck as OH's

I would like to have the Josephson's though, or better a couple of Sanken SDC's

Any time you get rid of C1000's and C3000's, chances are you are improving your sound. Even if all you get in return is a tunafish sandwich.

Have you ever tried the AKG C1000S on mounted toms?

Yes I did, but I prefer the 421's.
