hey guys.

i'm really poor, so i like to use free stuff when available.

i was hoping someone might be able to point me in the direction of a free directx plugin. i need a decent compressor to use for final mix compression.

anybody know of one? i like the Sonar compressorX, but it'd be easier to just stay in CEP when compressing the mix.

thanks!

If you are using CEP why don't you use the compressor that comes with it? It will beat any free directX pluggin.

because it sucks. i was just hoping that there would be a good free one. guess not.

it's all good, i mean i can still use the one that came with Sonar, just thought it'd be nice to not have to switch programs. The Cakewalk one is unavailable in CEP. blow monkey.

You could buy a VST to DX wrapper and then go to digitalfishphones.com and get about 6 free VST plugins that will make the cost of the wrapper seem like a truely fantastic deal...

they have the blockfish compressor, and the endorfin mastering plugin, both sound great..

Actually, it doesn't suck, but it's kinda hard to use until you get the hang of it. Go to www.thedirectxfiles.com, they have about every DirectX plug-in availible for download, including freeware

Chris is right, it doesn't suck. But you have to be patient enough to learn how to ignore the half of it that doesn't have much to do with anything that matters.

If you can make sense of what I've just said, you can make enough sense of Cool's compressor to use it.
