Didn't he say he was from China. Well Behringer is made in China and its copies of other gear. How many people who not help him has a piece of Behringer gear. "Well I paid for it". Well he might have paid 5.00 or 10.00 for the software. I don't agree with coping stuff, but its just and observation.

Hey, did you guys pay royalties in every cover song you paid in puplic. Hum!!!

deepwater what are you talking about? what is behringer?

Behringer has been accused of copying other companies designs in the past and, if that's the case and the other company had patents on the designs, then it's a legal matter for the courts to decide. If you feel that Behringer has done something unethical then, of course, you have every right to make a decision to purchase other brands. And I know many people who make that choice. On the other hand, patent infringement is a difficult area (I'm no expert!), and it's very hard to know if they're truly guilty (my guess would be that everyone copies everyone in circuit design) or if other companies are angry because Behringer is producing products that are decent, albeit, not great, at much lower prices thus forcing other manufacturers to try to compete.

Oh, in case you haven't noticed nearly everything is being produced in China these days. Even the Japanese and Korean manufacturers are moving production to China now.

I don't play cover tunes! :)

There's no need -- bars and clubs already pay licensing fees to the Musicians/Songwriter's Unions to cover the playing of cover songs by bands.

BlueBear

I don't play in bars or anything. Is'nt there a name for the fee that they have to pay?

Not sure -- it may be mechanical licenses, royalties, or simply performance license fee.

ASCAP is one of the orgs. that collect fees -there may be others. Is this what you are talking about?

TMA,

Basically you need a soundcard with multiple ins and outs (i/o) and a mixer with direct outs. The M Audio Delta 1010LT sound is pretty cheap.

You plug your mics into your mixer and the outs of your mixer into your soundcard. Look in your local second hand shops or websites for a mixer with direct outs.

Things to research are the M Audio Delta 1010LT and mixing desks. Also check out http://www.studiobuddy.com - download Studio Buddy. It will help you learn what kind of mic placement and EQ you want to be aiming for.

Another thing - don't talk about cracked software here. It is really frowned upon.

None of use are saints, we all started once with some illegal copy, I think we bashed the poor kid a bit too hard.

Yeah, I've decided against talking about that sort of thing here because if you do people will jump in on you. I've been given copies of plug-ins, audio CDs, samples and software by friends before.

I guess some things are seen as black and white where I see grey.

It wouldn't be so grey if you had written the thing and someone else took it. That is what is happening. The good VST developers aren't all multinational corporations. They're real people and they're getting hurt by theft. Don't hurt people.

Here's the deal: Forget about Cubase for now. You'll piss off so many people that your music will get branded as soon as you're exposed as a crackophile. So don't go there. Sell the game cards and use a little of it to buy n-track for well under a hundred bucks. www.fasoft.com .

Come to folks here without hot gear and you'll get all kinds of help.

Here is black and white for you.

Steal software and you are a thief.

Buy it, and you're not.

Can it get any fucking simpler than that ??????

stealing is bad, so is spitting
35 years ago there was a fine of $500 (Hong Kong) for spitting on a ferry. Must be more now. It's probably worse to spit than to steal in Hong Kong.

littering (including spitting and dog poo) is a fine of 1500 HKD now
