I thank you sir. I'd LOVE to get in on such a project!

Hey why not? I am currently involved with doing a cover of "The Mighty Quinn". How about that one?

Sounds cool! Do you have a copy of the original (I assume you mean Manfred Man's version) I can use as a template? That would be most excellent.

I figured I'd ad mine to the list...

I put up a Del Amitri cover in this thread. Nothin' fancy.. but a cover nonetheless. Please don't compare it to the original.. :p

WATYF, as I answered in the other thread, very good recording and sound. I really dig the DADGAD tuning.
Jgourd, I downloaded both versions. This oughta be fun.

I know you asked not to be compared to the original, but your guitar playing was right on. I'm a Del Amitri fan too. Good stuff.

Bruce,

That's a cool idea. Should we post suggestions for material, and then take a vote?

Track Rat - "And I love Her"

Great recording! How did you record the percussion? Guitar sounds great.

Are those vocals auto-tuned to the max or what? Would like to hear your voice with out the help of that program.

Cover

Here is a cover of Pantera's cemetary gates that my band did.
Still working on my recording skills so try and not take me apart.

VirtualSamana, if you ever heard me without the tuner, you'd put it right back on. The percussion is a pair of Toca congas mic'd with a 4033 and of course a clave. Thanks very much for the listen.

Sure... only problem is - I'm swamped right now and may not be able to get in on it!

I was thinking something that would be a skill-stretching exercise -- a Steely Dan tune, perhaps???

Reelin' In The Years? Peg?? Kid Charlemagne???

It's the third song on this link:

Congratulation, Rat. Very nice. For my taste the effect in the voice is too upfront, more a John effect than a Paul one. What is it, a delay, double tracking,...? Otherwise, it's fantastic. My dad was listening in the background and humming to it.
Cheers, Andrés

Bruce,

I know you love the Dan, and I dig their stuff too (especially pre- AJA {yipes! don't shoot me!}), but man that's a pretty ambitious cover!

Maybe if your serious about this we should start a new thread to get some more feedback. I'm pretty open to just about any genre, But I'm a little short on time at the moment as well.

Anyway, don't let the idea die, it sounds like a lot of fun!

Track Rat, very nice job overall on "And I Love Her". I thought the mix was very good.

Maybe a Beatles tune would be cool for the mix-fest. I've always wanted to do "And Your Bird Can Sing". And there's a bunch more.

I thank you gentlemen. I like the idea of this. Someone pick a tune.

-And I Love Her:

Except for the lower register of the vocal, this sounds like a 100% authentic production of this song,...

but you know, there's only one Paul McCartney!

Track Rat, great job!;)

Thanks Dave. Unfortunately, you're absolutely correct, only one Pauly.

oh man, that's an awesome tune ! It's the first song I learned on bass. But who has an acoustic ?
