Im very keen on doing that "Cover and Compare" thingy.
Has anyone started a new thread for the idea yet?

I suggest a beatles song because they are pretty much all brilliant and even if someone is unable to get the sound of the original they are easy to put your own spin on.

anyhow I'm KEEN!

heres some covers that tukkis did

I believe they are all three doors down covers

he posted them last week in a different thread but since you asked and they are pretty damn good i decided to get the links.

peace

We recorded this cover of Brown Eyed Girl a year or so ago. One person couldn't come to practice one day, so we did two covers just for fun.. Not a thing like the record. lol

I think I posted this to this forum back then, so apologies to those that may have already heard it.

Tom, pretty slick. the steel is a nice touch.

Covers?

Howdy all, been awhile since i've recorded anything, i fried my line in on my soundcard and too lazy to buy a new one and install it. Winter time will be upon us soon and thats a good time to record. (Buffalo NY)

BTW, Track Rat (Mike) I really love that song "I'll get back at you" that you got on your NWR page! Hope ya dont mind that I burned it on a CD and listen to it often!

Just wondering, how do you guys manage to get license for your covers ( if you do, that is ;) ) ?.

Some time ago I requested for a license for two cover versions at two different places, received a 3 page formular, filled it in and never heard from them again.
At that time I was only registered at mp3.com so I really needed those licenses, but I guess they ignored me because there was no money involved.

Anyone with more succes ?

Best regards
Erik

license?

all my covers are recorded for educational purposes only and derive no profits

I don't know about the rest of you, but I was just ... ummm.. testing my equipment... Yeah, that's it.. Testing equipment...

btw, thanks for the comments Track Rat. We had a good time doing this, nice change of pace..

I think that's there's no profit in what we're doing is obvious,...

and therefore, I think we're well below the radar of the copyright lawyers.

If not, then Yoko, Bowie and the Ramones would want a pretty big piece of me!

"Love Cats" by The Cure!

Hell, why not "To The Sky"? ;) BTW Bruce, LOVED your rendition of "Close To Me". Nice R.S. imitation :)

Hey man... thanks!

:)

...and ANOTHER!

...wow, that was good!

Listened to it again, this time on monitors. It blows me away how you do that subtle breathing thing (like R.S.) with the beat... feels like the song is pulsating.

A pro mix :) The clip will make a believer of the doubters!

Anywho... back O.T.... I'd love to ... uh... participate in this idea of everyone's. Let's throw out some more song names, start a poll, and get "jiggy with it" (quoth jeap :))
