I have the Ibanez Tube Screamer TS-9 currently, but I am thinking of selling it to purchase the Boss OS-2, which is a distortion/overdrive pedal...

Any thoughts on this? I like the TS-9, but I want the distortion.

I am playing through the all powerful Fender Power Chorus...

oh, cmon...dont you wear spandex and use Aqua Net hair spray.....

dammit , forgot it wasnt the 80's anymore.....

what type of sound are you going for?...drop a few names here......

Sobbat Driverbreaker 1. A cool little japanese pedal that uses the same chip as the TS-9, but it hits the limit of the Ts-9 when its gain is on about 3-4. After that, it jsut gets creamier and juicier and better. If you can afford $150. you can get it at http://www.musictoys.com/sobbat.htm

Otherwise, I've tried out that OS-2, and it's pretty durn good.

Musictoys also has some decent samples of Boss pedals, and when you compare them, the OS-2 is clearly the tastiest pedal they make...

I've been using the OS2 for about 6-7 years now. I bought it because it was cheap, not because of a lot of comparison shopping.

I will say that it has a ranges of tones in the area in between OD and distortion that I've found quite suitable to my tastes-somewhere in the indie rock/psychedelic/garage/punk range. In other words, it does the snotty and loose sounds pretty nicely, but would probably be less than stellar in the blues or tight metal sounds.

Most of the time, I used the OS2 with a strat through a fender deluxe, but for the last 2 years I've been playing a tele or LP jr. through a blues deville. I like it better with the tele and LP.

They're usually pretty easy to find used for $40 or less, and boss pedals will take a beating. My advice would be to search the used market and try one out.

would you say that the OS-2 holds its own against some of the higher end Ibanez pedals?
