Thinking about picking up an Ibanez Soundgear 5 string bass (SR885).

I like the feel of the SR basses, but I'm also a complete Ibanez whore. Watch out for the cheaper models--those scrawny necks are great for playability, but they tend to have some quick bowing issues. Their five strings are much more reinforced, though, so you shouldn't have as many problems.

Yep, that's the one - the guitar player is going to do the bass parts, then I can fiddle around with it for awhile

Well, just got an Ibanez SR885.
So far, it's not bad. I like the sound of my Guild with EMG's better, but maybe just because I am used to it.
The Ibanez plays nice though, and I like the new "B" string - although I still like G-strings the best - LOL
edit - well, after going from my Aguilar 1 x 12" to my Goliath SR cab - WOW! What a difference! The Aguilar just can't reproduce the "b" string nearly as well as the SWR cab.
So far, it's not bad. I like the sound of my Guild with EMG's better, but maybe just because I am used to it.
