hi again all, alright so just to make it clear i am thankful to all who have given me some positive info, i am on a budget but can still afford up to 1000, i know practice is the key as it is for any skill being learnt. i just wanted to know if there was short courses that offered one on one training or anything, recently i dropped a one on one audio engeneering course because of the 4 grand price tag. thanks to all that give good answers without you the g my stupid questions would be non existent. kcearl, you are 100 percent right thick skin is defiantly needed in this game. Rami- my musical experience is about 3 years of songwriting i have a few songs that made mixtapes and i continue it everday . Now i want to get into the tech stuff. ez willis, you cant really say i dont have the discipline when you dont know me.. but if that makes you feel better about yourself than ok il brush it off just for you .

i run across this problem constantly. I don't browse the board by forum, i click on the New Posts button and read through the thread titles and respond to the ones i think i can help with. the analog guys are constantly jumping on me for posting in that forum but it's unintentional. I think i am banned from the nicey-nice forums for the same reason.

HOWEVER, if you are in favor of noobs requesting an expert's advice on how to be great without putting in the work to get there themselves, i will avoid suggesting they buckle down and go ahead and put the work in themselves since i know with absolute certainty that their requests will go unanswered.

who said i didn't want to put work in, if i didnt want to put work in i would not be on the forum asking if there are 'experienced' producers i can find to help me get started

I do the same thing, but the forum titles are in the right hand column, so you know which forum you're clicking into. You're not banned from any forum, not that I know of.

I'm in favor of letting the newbs ask whatever they want in the newb section and not be intimidated by more experienced members. Everyone else gave him good responses, practice. You told him to join the military.

KC gave him suggestions for books and software, Rami told to listne to his favorite artists, you told him "you lack the discipline to become great at anything". Like I said, I get what you're saying and anywhere else on the boards, I would be okay with it. But in the Newb's section, newbs get to ask questions without intimidation.

I lol'd at that statement. :D:p

I think from here, you'll get a) links to good resources and b) advice from people that have been doing for a while what you want to do. I have neither to offer.

But I do have 2 pieces of advice.
-A positive attitude and enthusiasm will be greeted with helpful and thoughtful responses.
-There's no shortcuts really. You'll get helpful advice, but practice is the key.

FTR, i don't necessarily think that the military is all that bad of an idea for this young man. :p

The military mainly taught me how to shoot at people who disagree with my government and how unpleasant the brecon beacons and north sea are
Never taught me anything about audio except to keep spare radio/comms batteries in condoms so they don't get wet

Shit, I've been here 4 years and I'm still intimidated  :D!

I agree, it did wonders for me.

it had no impact on your self discipline? how about teaching you that hard work helps to achieve goals?

also, just so everyone knows, i never was in the military and know nothing about discipline or self respect.

I think Gerg can help with the making of phat dope beats........

It did, tremendously, that's why I agree with your statement. 12 on/12 off everyday for months on end will do that. Plus the occassional 36 hr work day when you've got duty. I don't think I should have used the rolling eyes emoticon in that post. Sorry. ;)
