Time to resurect my ears, or at least try...

I somehow managed to rig my listening gear up to somewhat work again (it dies after about 30 minutes and I have to reboot), so will be able to listen this weekend.

Fire up the links, I'll be responding Sat/Sun. usual rules apply!

wow. This tread is 7 pageges long. This must be some kinda record!

lol, nowhere close to the record, other than almost every post is actually dealing with the topic!

I'll be reviewing tomorrow, so anyone else who wants my deaf ass self to check them out, drop the links!

You assed for it O GREAT REAL ONE FROM THE NORTH.
¿Didja check out my latest¿ Its actually a tune from a coupla centuries ago that I have re-done mostly in Spanish but there is also English, Galician, Italian, Basque, Catalan and Arabic. You will hafta learn me a little Canadian for the re-mix. It has become a sort of a hit here in mañanaland and is also being featured on the website of the largest rag in circulation in the Iberian peninsula. Runner up yer flagpole....

Be my guest man! (hey, are you the Waldo behind Nowhereradio?)

You can comment on the mix, but I won't listen to you....:)..... because it's already printed on a cd, and I probably agree with you on the basslightness of the mixes, vocal harshness and too much maximizer LOL.....and the sickening dutchness :D )

Keep 'em coming, I'll be listening in a few hours!

(hey, are you the Waldo behind Nowhereradio?)
Behind, in front, and in the middle of!

LI_Slim> "Reincarnation"

Acoustic is a bit quiet, possibly compressed a bit much.

What the HELL was that at 2:19? Sounded like 'tough' had a bunch of layers added to it (like pre 1:00 had, only more intense). Might want to blend that in a bit more, if you keep it at all. Made me think it was a cough or a choke at first, lol

I'd bring the bass closer to the center.

The repeat at 4:05 sounds a bit too much like a skip, and could very well be a skip for all I know. Maybe a little blending there would help, or it's going to make a few people question the quality of your CD ;)

Vox I might eq. a tiny bit lower.

Catchy tune, gonna make a few people wonder exactly where your mind was at (like we don't know, lol).

W.

Just a question, heard some odd distortion in there (could just be my setup), but it almost sounded like you recorded some of this analog?

Zeke> "Waiting for the messiah"

Snares a bit poppy. A few timing issues.

Overall sound is a bit on the high side. Need to trim out some of them peak frequencies.

Lead guitar around 2:30 is a bit loud compared to the overall mix. Made the odd mistake in there, I'd redo that bit ;)

Sounds like this was multi-shot tracked, as in, one at a time?

Rythm guit. could use a little compression.

rustyfingers> "Mr Sammy"

Holy crap batman, no volume! Hey bud, if you can normalize this sucker overall, or turn up the gains at least, then get it back to me, I'd be glad to critique. At this volume I'd be lucky to hear anything!

bmorris> "It's time"

Bass is clipping, needs to be dropped a bit. Even on my monitors the bass is quite heavy, with some modern stereos, it'll be getting into damage range!

Rim and hihat are too loud.

The remainder of the mix sounds about right for R&B/hip hop (I'd have to listen after changes to be sure).

The repetition is a bit much for an instrumental, but could imagine with some vocals this'd be a pretty good production!

W.

jordokid> "Deja El Mundo En Paz"

Overall Mix is a bit murky, needs to brightened up a bit on the high end. The mastering process may help that out.

Vocals need to come forward for sure.

Guitar sounds a bit much distorted on occasion.

D'ess that Axe ;)

As usual, lyrically genius ;) Like to seem them posted!

pedullist> "tijdbom"

Synths a bit bright and too far foward. Push it back a bit.

Are you doing some wack panning with the vocals?

Music style definately fits the title, wondering when it was going to go off ;)

Heavy distortion/clipping about 3:12, overall mix might be a bit too close to the redline!

Sounds like an entry level sound card was used from the dynamics. Not a bad job though if this is true.

dtb> "Life is sureal" (P.S., it's surreal)

I listened to the one that says it's a do-over w/ your new guitar.

Instrumental mix is a little tiny bit bright, and the vocals are a bit muddy. Vocals need to come more up-front, might need to drop the guitar a little bit to accommodate.

Guitar sounds great, but would be better mic'd ;)

Yep, SB Live back then (but I'm currently working with an Audigy.)

Too much maximizer, I know *pats himself on the head*

Synths are ok and perfectly forward. LOL I would mix it differently nowadays but hey, it was one of my first attempts... :D

And the panning of the vocals in the freaky rhythmic bits are a full 100% left and a full 100% right. Isn't it wonderful?
