Nothing to worry about there, that's definitely not going to happen.

You know, I was wondering about that too. If you're all up on your Variax, why are you playing a Takamine straight from the crappy electronics & piezo... covered in stickers? Was there an explanation? Did I miss a post?

I've had that Tak for 18 years, and I like the way it plays...more like an electric than an acoustic...and guitars are pretty personal instruments. The reason I'm playing a takamine in whatever pics you looked at is because the amplification system in that guitar is actually pretty good - it's the 3rd or 4th system I'v put in that guitar in its life, and the current one is the best, but it still sucks ass compared to the VAX. As for bumper stickers, lol...if you think they make any difference to the sound coming out of a piezo system, I'll just say you're either wrong, or you have the greatest ears in the history of live sound. Ask Willie Nelson how much that extra hole in his guitar helps the sound, LOL.

Unless you've had a vasectomy, it can and will happen.

You don't know shit about women, that much is obvious.

True, about the Tak., good enough for me.
About Hayley: we are getting married, year after next, and no, there won't be any pregnancies. We don't plan on having kids until we're at least 30, if at all. Not our thing.

I like this thread, because it's like about 1/5th about gear and 4/5ths about life and personalities and crotches. This is how the Cave used to be, lol.

I'm anxiously awaiting Chris' next review in support of the Alesis 3630. :D

Based on those recordings it seems to have that usual Line 6 "sounds better then a piece of crap but not as good as the real thing" sound. I've never actually tried one. Does it play anywhere near as nice as your Larivee?

She has a different plan.

She just hasn't clued you in to it yet.

really? this is something she's told you? clue: she proposed to ME.

It plays well, but nothing like an acoustic. I really can't compare it to an acoustic instrument from a playability standpoint...it plays like a budget electric. It's a helluva' lot EASIER to play than most acoustics, but again...apples to oranges.

And I'd agree with you on the "not as good as the real thing" comment for purposes of that recording, but for live stuff...dude, it's not even close. I know you've had more sound gigs than most on this board... I'm not wrong about this, LOL. Sounds better than "the real thing."

Like with the last pickup system I put in my takamine...I honestly cannot remember the name of it, but it's basically a piezo under the bridge coupled with a small condenser mic that "floats" around in the soundhole...adjustable. The whole thing was under $300, and it's not bad - I can get some decent sounds blending those 2 pickups together, but invariably, I end up fighting feedback and just giving up on the mic and turning the "blend" to full piezo. To me, that's "the real thing" sound that I hear 99 out of 100 active musicians get out of their acoustics, and the Vax just flat blows their doors off.

Hugs and kisses to all,
The Expert.

That just makes c7's point stronger. You missed his point.

Apparently she has other ideas. So c7 seems to think.

I thought the same thing when I got married at 20. #5 is due in January.

I ain't saying you're wrong about yourself, or getting married, or whatever. Just be open to your potential for change, because that's what your potential is. Life will be very tedious if nothing changes in the next 70 years ;)

Ja, ja, and I know that we'll probably end up pregnant at some point earlier than we thought, but it's definitely not going to be anytime within the next few years, I can say that for sure.

One thing you learn as you get older is that there are very few things that meet the criteria

"I can say that for sure."

Man, that's the truth. Here's what I can say for sure.

1. Ed's post is the truth;
2. Variax Acoustic guitars sound better live than any other acoustic guitar, no matter what.

(**I'm kinda' trying to morph 2 of the various topics of this thread together...how am I doing?**)

Considering they've got nothing to do with each other, pretty good, I'd say.
No, you see, we won't be pregnant anytime soon because, simply, we're not doin' it.
