Again, I think your premise about there being only a "small tone advantage" is severely flawed, but I'm the same guy who can't really hear the difference between a severely distorted guitar signal source...is it coming from an LP or a Strat? I just don't know, because it's not MY thing, but I think I can relate to the guys that CAN hear the difference.
But the cost difference between a Vax Ac. 300 and a "normal" acoustic/electric is no difference at all. $600 street. Plus, you can record with it from the output jack and sound better than most people who try to record their acoustic guitars. If you can pay the same price and get a sound that you like "1000%" better, why wouldn't you do that? My point in this thread is that you really should if this is what you do.
