I/O with only 1 audio jack.

Hi,

I have a sony vaio laptop with only 1 jack for both mic and headphones. I basically want to use it for guitar rig through asio4all.

I am unable to record stuff as well as playback. IMO reason is the routing. but I have no option to route through the laptop speaker separately and use the jack only for mic in.

Hi,
The best bet would be to get an external interface.
I'm not just recommending this because of your combo jack situation - It's a good idea anyway in terms of latency and quality.

A simple usb audio interface with a hi-z/instrument input shouldn't cost too much.
Have a look for tascam/presonus/focusrite on ebay. :)
