Should I use my sennsizer condenscor mic and get a art pre to record. or buy a sm 57 and 58 to do the job?

Never used a Sennheiser, but I have a Dual MP and a Tube MP that I use with all my mics (have 4 different ones, including an SM57 and an SM58). I just started running my drum machine through them, too. I like the ARTs and most people here seem to agree.

Some more info would be useful before anyone can really answer your question, though. For example, what instruments will you record, will you do vocals, record in a "studio" environemnt or live, what kind of music (I see you go by "hip hopper"), which Sennheiser do you have and do you like the sound you get from it, etc.?

I learn a lot of good things on this BBS, but I also learned the hard way that questions like yours usually get answered with more questions. Sometimes they don't get answered at all since there are too many variables to deal with. I found that out from some of my early posts here.

Yo Skipping Hopper de Be-Bop:

There are great deals on mics currently. Best to try and hear one or rent one to see how it jells with your equipment.

I, too, have an ART dual pre-amplifier; however, if you've got the bucks, the Martinsound Mic-Max has very good reviews and is a top-end product; it currently goes for 1400.00 dollars, give or take a few.

Check Martinsound out at martinsound.com

Keep hippin' and hoppin'

Hip Hopper,

What Sennheiser mic model do you have? Is it the MKH40P48?
